Henry Schein One recently introduced Ascend Starter, a new practice management software package designed for dentists opening their own practices. The package provides access to the company's cloud-based Ascend by Dentrix platform for $199 per month during the first year for practices with fewer than 500 patients annually.
Ascend Starter combines the full Ascend Pro platform—including clinical, scheduling, billing, and revenue cycle management capabilities—with consulting services and monthly performance benchmarking. In a press release, Henry Schein One stated that the software package is intended to reduce the financial and operational barriers associated with establishing an independent dental practice.
Henry Schein One also plans to introduce preconfigured settings and forms tailored to the needs of startup practices. These features are not yet available, according to the company's announcement.
Additional capabilities include online appointment scheduling with Reserve with Google integration and optional services designed to support patient acquisition and practice operations. Available add-ons include a website optimized for artificial intelligence (AI) with embedded online scheduling, integrated Mango phone systems with hardware included, and an AI receptionist. Practices can also access discounted dental-focused information technology support and connect with DentalPlans.com to explore its free Provider Marketing Program. According to Henry Schein One, DentalPlans.com averages more than 750,000 monthly visitors.
“The first year of a new practice carries real uncertainty,” said Lois Banta, Founder of Healthcare Enterprises. “The new Ascend Starter package will give startups access to advanced technology that will help them in their efforts to build a stronger foundation and find early success.”
