Planet DDS has introduced DentalOS AI Agents, AI-powered agents that operate within the Denticon and Cloud 9 practice management systems. The agents access live patient data, schedules, and workflows to perform operational tasks.
The initial agents focus on front desk functions. The Confirmation Agent handles outbound appointment confirmations during a set time window. It can reschedule appointments if needed by searching available slots according to office policies, verifies patient identity before sharing protected health information, respects consent and office hours, and records outcomes in the practice management system with audit trails. According to the company, this agent has increased appointment confirmation rates by 20% to 50% from historic baselines, reduced no-shows by 15% to 30%, and saved front desk teams an estimated 60% to 75% of hours previously spent on manual confirmation workflows.
The Scheduling Agent contacts patients from recall lists, waitlists, ASAP lists, and unscheduled treatment to book appointments directly into the system. It also responds to cancellations by reaching out to fill open time slots through outgoing calls and logs interactions in Denticon and Cloud 9.
According to the company, the average dental practice experiences a 15% no-show rate, resulting in more than $150,000 per year in lost production, and 36% of patients who miss appointments report that they simply forgot. For dental support organizations and multi-location groups, these issues increase with scale.
“DSOs that are scaling face an inherent tension — more locations mean more operational complexity, more communication to manage, and more pressure on teams already stretched thin,” said Eric Giesecke, CEO of Planet DDS. "We're introducing an entirely new way of using our software by providing access to an AI workforce that lives inside DentalOS, understands the full context of every patient interaction, and works alongside human teams so organizations can scale without sacrificing consistency, responsiveness, or the people who make it all work. The Confirmation and Scheduling Agents we're launching are just the beginning.”
“The Confirmation and Scheduling Agents protect production and reduce no-shows, which for DSOs means healthier EBITDA,” said Nathan James, chief product officer at Planet DDS. “And this is just the first layer. As we bring AI agents into the revenue cycle, clinical coordination, and beyond, we're building a workforce that strengthens our customers’ business at every level.”
The agents provide real-time access to live schedules and patient records within Denticon and Cloud 9, complete front desk workflows such as appointment confirmations, rescheduling, missed call recovery, and routine patient inquiries, communicate with patients according to each organization’s scheduling preferences and escalation paths, operate across locations while respecting office hours, holidays, and closures, escalate to human staff when clinical judgment or personal attention is required, and allow organizations to control timing, task scope, and escalation rules.
Planet DDS plans to release additional AI agent roles during 2026 and beyond in areas including clinical coordination, patient communications, and revenue cycle management. All agents connect directly to Denticon and Cloud 9, which are cloud-based dental practice management platforms from Planet DDS.
