As dental healthcare providers, we become very well acquainted with our patients, and we often see them more frequently than their primary physicians. This places us in a unique position to observe, screen, and educate our patients for their total health. In addition, it is becoming increasingly clear that our efforts affect not only oral, but systemic, social, and mental health, as well as overall well-being.
