The Compendium was the first dental journal to offer home-study continuing education articles. Peer-reviewed and published monthly, Compendium has been providing cutting-edge continuing education articles as well as noncredit columns written by the world's leading dental clinicians for more than 25 years. Compendium's technique-oriented articles help general practitioners expand their clinical capabilities, promoting practice growth and efficiency.

On December 20th, AEGIS Publications, LLC, completed the acquisition of The Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry, Contemporary Esthetics, Contemporary Dental Assisting, and additional titles and assets under the Dental Learning Systems group from Ascend Media.

In addition to the newly acquired titles, AEGIS publishes Inside Dentistry, Functional Esthetics & Restorative Dentistry, The Middle East Journal of Oral Health, Dentistry India, Advanced Esthetics & Interdisciplinary Dentistry and custom clinical and educational programs for the oral care markets.

AEGIS Communications' current management ran Compendium for many years and subsequently created and launched the rest of the acquired titles. According to AEGIS CEO Dan Perkins, "The opportunity to acquire an established brand like Compendium and the other titles was more than just a business opportunity for us. Our team has great affection and familiarity with these brands and look forward to integrating their value into the AEGIS portfolio."

Editor-in-Chief

Louis F. Rose, DDS, MD is Professor of Surgery & Medicine, Drexel University School of Medicine; Clinical Professor of Periodontics, University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine; and Clinical Professor of Periodontics, New York University School of Dental Medicine. He is appointed as medical staff at Main Line Health System-Bryn Mawr Hospital. Dr. Rose acts as Secretary for the Northeast Society of Periodontists and the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry. He is the director of the American Board of Periodontology and a member of the Executive Boards of the Northeastern Society of Periodontology and the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry. Dr. Rose is a consultant to the American Dental Association Council on Scientific Affairs. He is a section editor for the Journal of Esthetic Dentistry and is on the editorial boards of the International Journal of Periodontics & Restorative Dentistry, Journal of Periodontology, Practical Periodontics & Aesthetic Dentistry, Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, and Grand Rounds in Oral-Systemic Medicine.

CE Information:

Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry offers 18 Continuing Education (CE) credits per year. The CE credit is offered through Ascend Dental Media, now operated by AEGIS Communications, which is an accepted Academy of General Dentistry Approved PACE Program Provider and an ADA CERP Recognized Provider. To register call (888) 596-4605. Each clinical article provides 1 hour of credit. Participants are urged to contact their state registry boards for special CE requirements. A 10-question, multiple-choice test follows each CE article. To receive credit, complete and return the answer sheet for processing. The deadline for submission of quizzes is 24 months after the date of publication. Participants must attain a score of 70% on each quiz to receive credit. Participants receive an annual report documenting their accumulated credits.

Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry is accepted for inclusion in the Index to Dental Literature/MEDLINE.
